I read this equally a child and loved it. Then re-read ot a few years ago. I take a signed copy cos my grandfather knew him well and accompanied him frequently through Kruger. My grandfather was the engineer tasked to oversee the structure of several large dams in Kruger.

The famous story of Wolhuter killing the lion with the hunting pocketknife equally he was beingness dragged off to be eaten is hard to believe but all true.

I wonder if they have taken some bits out in the new printing, similar when he sends the little b

I read this as a kid and loved it. Then re-read ot a few years ago. I take a signed copy cos my gramps knew him well and accompanied him often through Kruger. My granddaddy was the engineer tasked to oversee the construction of several large dams in Kruger.

The famous story of Wolhuter killing the king of beasts with the hunting knife every bit he was existence dragged off to exist eaten is hard to believe just all true.

I wonder if they have taken some bits out in the new printing, like when he sends the little blackness boys to roll around in the grass nether his business firm (which was on stilts) to attract all the fleas. Then they would run to the river and jump in, wash the fleas off and do it again. All for a thruppence, or something similar that.

You just can't get the assistance these days that you used to...

I really loved this volume!

It gives so much insight into the life of a game ranger in the Kruger National Park in the early years when things were so much unlike than today.

Definitely recommend this volume to all Kruger lovers.

A classic account by one of the offset Rangers in the Kruger National Park. It covers the setting up of the Park and what life was like before the area was covered in well divers roads and rangers depended upon horses and guns.

Harry Wolhuter, born in 1876, was a legendary ranger in the Kruger National Park and completed 44 years of service before retiring in 1948. Today the Lindanda Memorial marks the spot where he killed the panthera leo, and the lion'southward skin is still on display in the Stevenson-Hamilton Library in Skukuza. He died in 1964.
