Kitten Makes Funny Noise While Eating

Now that I have my cat's ravenous appetite and other health concerns to worry about, she's now making these weird sounds when she eats. It's like she has to hork up some phlegm with each mouthful she takes. Here's a sample:

It's heard to hear in the video.....I don't hear the horking sound that you're referring to.

I could hear it and it does not sound like horking!!!! It sounds exactly like something is wrong with her teeth!!
How old is she??? I would have her mouth/teeth looked at right away. Plus when she chews she kinda turns her head sideways a bit. Teeth, is my thought here... She might have some bad/loose teeth.

Teeth grinding can be a sign of dental problems. It's also something that's common amongst cats w/ kidney disease.

Has your cat had bloodwork within the last while that would check kidney function? (namely: BUN, Creatinine)

I heard the sound your cat makes. I've never heard a cat make that sound before. You should check with your vet. Just incase.

That's weird. I never got a notice about this thread being replied to. I thought you guys just didn't care
Dammit! I saw the vet just yesterday and forgot to bring this issue up w/her!!! Well, when I report on the amount of water my cat's drunk (which has been plenty lately) I'll ask her about this and maybe show her the video. The vet did look in her mouth though (although my kitteh wasn't very cooperative about that).
She's... 14 right around now. She's also going through other problems like hyperthyroid, peeing where she shouldn't, and drinking a lot of water. The former reason for which is why she has had her blood tested, first to diagnose the thyroid and later, to see if the meds are working. Whether or not it was the kind of test that would expose renal failure, I cannot say.

Oh, that definitely sounds like a tooth / jaw problem to me, too.
Does she make the same sound when she's eating canned food? If so, I'd call your vet tomorrow.... actually, I think I'd call her tomorrow anyway.

When was the last time the blood work was done?. Drinking a lot of water and peeing out of the box could be a few problems and getting the blood work done again and updated will help determine what is going on. I am sorry your cat is not feeling well please let us know how things are going.

She doesn't eat canned food, but she does make the same sound when I give her a pill pocket, which just contains an itty-bitty quarter of a pill, so nothing really hard to deal w/there.
I guess the blood work was last done in January, but I'm less concerned w/that in this thread than I am about the uncouth way she eats. I'll let ya know.

Wet food is healthier, easier for cats to digest, and helps prevent dehydration (which contributes to urinary tract issues, among other things); would it be possible to feed your kitty a canned diet at least until you find out what's wrong with her mouth? If whatever is causing that noise is at all painful, the canned food might be more gentle and less painful for her to eat...
